Dennis Morgan, Founder of BroadReach Creative Group
Dennis Morgan has one of those careers that can be truly classified as both "long and distinguished" and a "certifiable success". He is a consummate, 'rainmaker'.
Morgan has executed successful business development strategies for a wide and diverse client base. His marketing experience spans many industries and distinctive campaigns. He has managed accounts like Panasonic, Funjai, Casio, Eastman Federal Credit Union, Lippo Group, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Music Group, and many others. He has also worked (pro bono) on many not-for-profit projects ranging from the late Beatle, George Harrison's philanthropic endeavors to the hurricane Katrina catastrophic event. Today, Morgan prefers to focus his pro-bono work on 'start-up' and/or 'financially distressed' non-profits.
Dennis was also Chief Marketing Officer for Odyssey Pictures Corp. (OPIX Nasdaq and Frankfurt exchange) and President of Odyssey Pictures music division. While at Odyssey he was responsible for all advertising, publicity and promotion of motion picture and sports division products. Morgan developed all integrated marketing plans for corporate objectives and strategies. He also managed strategic marketing and advertising for all initiatives related to cross-promoting the professional sports division, spearheaded by the Sacramento Geckos, a USISL A-Division pro soccer team affiliated with MLS teams, Kansas City Wizard and San Jose Clash.
Before joining Odyssey he was VP of International Sales & Marketing at Los Angeles based Drive Entertainment, Inc. where he managed all global marketing, distribution, and product licensing. Morgan also served as domestic division manager for both the dance label and children's music label. He played a pivotal role in the worldwide marketing, distribution, publishing, and global TV syndication of the Emmy nominated PBS-TV Special, "Swing Alive! At The Hollywood Palladium". He also managed Drive's jazz labels, RealTime: Chick Corea, Ernie Watts, Freddie Hubbard, Art Pepper, Joe Farrell.
Prior to launching his career as a salesman and branch manager for Decca Records, Morgan was a high school substitute teacher for the Raritan Township School District (teaching certificate earned from Ocean College, Toms River, New Jersey). After Decca merged under the umbrella of the Universal Music Group (MCA, Inc.) he was promoted to National Promotion Director for the Universal associated label group (UMG).
With the career explosion of Elton John, Morgan was then recruited to become founding General Manager of Elton John's fledgling record label, The Rocket Record Company. He played a key role in the success of such artists as Neil Sedaka, The Kiki Dee Band, Cliff Richards, Colin Blumstone,The Hudson Brothers, Brenda Russel, and Nigel Olssen.
Later, he entered into an agreement with former Beatle, the late George Harrison to manage his group of companies, Dark Horse Records, H.O.T. Records, Loka Productions, and Ganga Publishing. As VP General Manager, Morgan brought his expertise to bear on all aspects of George Harrison's career, including distribution deals with Capitol/EMI, A&M Records, and Warner Bros. Records. He signed budding songwriters/producers and future multiple Grammy winners Danny Kortchmar, and David Foster to artist, publishing, and production deals. Other artists of note were, Tom Scott, The Five Stairsteps, Attitudes, Splinter, and Ravi Shankar. Morgan was also involved with the Monty Python project that spawned the cult feature "The Rutles" which became the precursor to Harrison forming Handmade Films (The Life of Brian,Time Bandits, Mona Lisa, The Long Good Friday, Withnail and I, and others).

Hurricane Katrina Ad Exec Operation Covington Crew REVISITED
It is the second anniversary of Operation Covington Crew (Hurricane Katrina -- Covington, Louisiana) Habitat for Humanity project undertaken by 14 advertising executives from Deutsch, Inc. Los Angeles (Covington Crew 2008). The video highlights the groups remarkable achievment in constructing a new home for Katrina victim, Tracy McCauley.
Los Angeles Covington Crew ad-execs with the help of family, friends, and other North American relief agencies, committed monetary donations and other assistance to the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Seventy other countries including Kuwait made the largest single pledge of $500 million, but Qatar, India, China, Pakistan and Bangladesh made very large donations as well.
But let's pause to reflect on our 14 Deutschers who held fundraisers to pay their own travel expenses and other overhead to take on the Habitat for Humanity home building project: Where are these advertising executives today?
We'll be posting updates via 'comments' to address this and other questions. Happy Anniversary Covington Crew 2008!
